2011-2012 Season

We are a group of Rochester-area recorder players who meet twice a month from September to May. Together with several talented volunteer teachers, the group provides opportunities to participate in learning sessions, consorts, and several performances. For this season, we are planning two workshops, and in May, a public concert to show what we've learned. Many of our members also play in small groups outside of our meetings -- perhaps you have seen them play.

January-February 2011 -- we will be meeting at the First Baptist Church (map) on Tuesdays: January 10, January 24, February 14 and February 28 for our regular chapter meetings. 

Beginners also meet on Tuesdays January 3, January 17, February 7 and February 21 from 7:15-8:30pm.

Our Spring workshop with Valerie Horst is coming soon, on March 24.

The open sight-reading group meets on Tuesdays: January 17, January 31 (7:30 start), February 7, February 21 7:15-8:45pm.

There is a brief open board meeting on the fifth Tuesday of January 31, from 6:30-7:20.

New members are always welcome -- no previous experience on the recorder is required.

In case of snow: please use your best judgement as to whether it is safe for you to get to and from the meeting. We will also put a notification here if we need to cancel a meeting because of snow.

Note: A "Chapter Meeting" includes first hour classes, a business meeting, and second hour classes. Beginners meet every week, and on weeks when a chapter meeting is being held, also are welcome to the business meeting. Business meetings are not "strictly business" -- we try to have one or two groups present a piece they are working on each time. It's a great way to hear what your friends are working on, or simply to be inspired.
